Guatemalan Connection

Trust for Wildlife has developed a special partnership with the Inter-American Foundation for Tropical Research and with Rainforest Alliance, to focus on a special area named Semuc Champey.

This 2700 acre pristine rainforest has a wealth of plant and animal life, particularly neotropical migratory birds.

Rotary International is also involved through the Vermont regional club, Catamount Rotary Club. The club members gave a lead grant to provide resources to do inventories on the rainforest area.

Ultimately, the 2700 acres would be designated as a permanently protected natural area.
